Salvia Hispanica, commonly known as chia, belongs to the species of flowering plant in the mint family. Chia is a herb that grows annually up to 1.75 m (5.7 ft) tall. It develops from a seedling into lush green foliage before it produces purple or white flowers. These flowers develop into seed pods to produce Chia Seeds. Chia is now considered a superfood as it is high in Omega 3, dietary fibre, protein and antioxidants.
White and Black Chia Seed are the first food-grade products grown, graded and packed by the Salvetti Family under their Australian Superfoods NQ (ASF) brand on their red volcanic soils of North Queensland.
